KIT is a non-profit, independent centre of expertise, education, intercultural cooperation and hospitality dedicated to sustainable development and international cooperation. We focus on key areas where it can make a difference: healthcare, gender and agriculture.
Taking the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) as a general framework for action, we provide innovative and practical solutions for low- and middle-income countries. Our work encompasses research, advice and training & education for international organisations, companies, NGOs, governments and students. Our landmark, historic premises in Amsterdam serve as a broader platform for the exchange of knowledge and intercultural cooperation, through the SDG House, a physical and virtual community. Around 50 innovative social entrepreneurs and organisations working on sustainability have chosen to set up office within the KIT building. We also host Amsterdam’s ‘Impact Hub’, a network of collaborators focused on making a positive impact in our world.
KIT is a multi-faceted and international knowledge institute that brings together people with different professional and cultural backgrounds. This diversity creates an inspiring work environment, where staff look beyond their own areas of specialisation to foster collaboration, internally and externally. Our employees are passionate professionals who apply a business mindset in order to achieve idealistic goals. It’s a rare opportunity that KIT staff value highly.
KIT employs people from a wide variety of professional and cultural backgrounds. Of its 130 employees, 80 regularly conduct short or long-term missions.
